Weekend Project - An Ohio Canvas?

I want to make an Ohio picture like this:  here we go!
With a border like this: go here!

That will be my project this weekend.  To try to do that, then proceed to give it to my Sister for her Junior Recital!

I just have to decide on which city... Maybe I can just have Ohio and put a nice thing saying  "The Heart of it All" in script all in scarlet and gray.

That would work.

Thanks for talking this out.

What I'm Dating

Chet Porter published an article a while ago, the "5 Inanimate Objects You Date in College"

He lists the five following things:
1. Homework
2.  Fast Food
3. Your Computer
4. Alcohol
5. Netflix

Which I totally agree with...  If I didn't live at home, I would probably have eaten a lot more fast food this past year.  Which I totally don't need.

I would add my bed though.  I have a pretty close relationship with it.  I tend to do a lot of my homework here, writing, thinking, even eating and drinking. Sadly that is an accurate description of my life.

Sad, but true.
 photo lydsawkwardlifegmailcom-09_zpscb920196.png

I am not an Object.

I do not enjoy getting catcalled.

I do not want to be called "baby" when  I walk down the street.

I do not deserve to have to feel uncomfortable when I am just walking minding my own business and I get repeatedly called on by two guys to come up with them and drink.

I do not deserve to have sexual comments made about me by two complete strangers.

I do not desire to hear how some guy who has seen me for 2 seconds wants me.

I do not know you.

Why would I want to drink a beer with you?

Who are you?

Why would you want to invite me up there to drink with you?

I am overweight, I don't look that pretty, I'm not desirable by today's standards.

I'm just the only one out walking on the road at 11:30 that night.

So when I ignore you because as a lone female walking at night, when you're making sexual comments and offering me alcohol, I have every right to ignore you.

You seem preditory.

Out to get me.

You seem to be a safety hazard.

I do not deserve to be called a bitch when I feel very uncomfortable by everything you've done and I have not been given the opportunity to say hi back.

This article, by Anne Gus from Thought Catalog, in her 5th point is why a a lot of guys become undatable - at least in this girls humble opinion.

Life Update?

So I wanted to be more artsy and take more photos every day.  Which is why I tried the 365 image challenge.  It didn't work out. But one could dream.

This past weekend I went to Dayton.  And there have been some things surrounding it.  And so I actually will be doing....  a mini series?  of different things that had happened that I just want to talk about and who else but the good ol' internet wants to listen?

November 12th :)

When I woke up this morning, I was going about my business.  Finally I looked out the window and realized that it had snowed!!!  That pairs perfectly with the pumpkin spice latte (yes, I'm one of those girls). So I made one, and upon finishing I realized that there was the cocoa color on it!  I was barely up for fifteen minutes before I had my post for the day! Heck yes!!!

What a way to start! Soon I'll have to get ready to meet Danielle to work on stuff for school.  Silly school.

November 11th - My First Photo Post

This is Henrick.  My sorority sister's got me this when my Dad was initially diagnosed with cancer.  He is super awesome and cuddly and I love him.  He is so awesome.  Mara picked out his name... and the group of girls ended up having a professor the following semester that was named Henrick.  kinda funny.  But who cares.  he's mine.  And I love him. And it reminds me that they Love me.

Hello There

Hey!

I know that it has been a while, but life is going on and gotta live it!

I saw a photo challenge, where you take a photo a day with a themed color,  and I decided to do it!

This is to introduce the project,  and to get myself in the mindset of doing this!

The person who created it, Positively Present,  posted about this in January 2012, and I just found a link to the page via pinterest.  This lovely picture below was provided in the original post (here), to help inspire and continue doing this project month to month.

While I am beginning this in the middle of the month, I will be doing my best to post a picture a day with a slight description.  If I see an image I wish to take but am unable to take it (like when I am driving), I hope that I can accurately describe it.

I hope all is well is everyone!

Cute Haloween Costumes!

I have found a myriad of many different Halloween costume idea's via this Facebook page.  I am making this post on January 13th...  So I hope you enjoy this.  Because it has been stewing for a while to be posted.  :)

How adorable is this?  Isn't Where the Wild Things Are the best?  My grandmother got me this little book, about 8" by 8"  from Sunoco.  I treasure that book.  Because it is mine from my grandmother.

How Ingenious!   I wonder what he did with his real arms....

How Clever!  Maybe one day I will do something to this extent.  Who knows?

Hahahaha... He should have just gone as the bread man... Because He is already a ginger.

Thought Catalog

I found this lovely article on Thought Catalog.  I liked reading  it.  I am a tea person.  I enjoyed reading it, and I hope you do as well!

Tea People Vs Coffee People

Feb. 26, 2013

Because there is no such thing as middle ground. You are either decidedly one or the other, and if you hang on the fence to avoid the revolution, you will be cast into the pits of rabid dogs along with those heathens, the Hot Cocoa People.

Where You Are Most Comfortable

Tea People: You are into all things knit and cozy. Your ideal setting is curled up next to a window during inclement weather, inside some sort of makeshift fortress made entirely out of blankets you purchased on Etsy. You are all about the journaling, the feelings, and the way a nice cup of Earl Grey adds a distinct tinge of refinement to even the most frat boy-esque activities. As long as you are somewhere which is highly Instagrammable, there is no limit to the amount of time you can spend in the fetal position.
Coffee People: There is but one word for you: Cafés. You’re just chomping at the bit to get yourself over to an unnamed city in Europe where you can sit for hours on end, watching people walk by in their terrible tourist clothes, leaving strategic coffee stains on the pages of A Moveable Feast. You will always have a soft spot for the tiny little spoons they serve with the espresso (it thinks it’s real cutlery!), and you don’t even notice the brown tooth stains anymore.

Your Dream Partner

Tea People: Let’s not mince words here: You want someone British. Culturally speaking, you’re not straying too far from your drink of choice, and would be happy for a little Benedict Cumberbatch spread over a crumpet around four in the afternoon. You’re all about the cardigans, the charmingly befuddled mannerisms, and the accents. Always the accents.
Coffee People: I’m picturing an Italian dude that chain smokes and refuses to call you back, yet always shows up at inopportune moments and makes passionate love to you in your cramped European apartment. I would say his name is Paolo, but it could very well be Gianni.

Your Social Life

Tea People: Few things are more overrated for you than having an active social life. You see all the people who are constantly going out to these parties and bars and Roman orgies and you’re like “Really? Haven’t they heard of Dr. Who?” You’re not really trying to get crazy and social, you’re more about curling up with your aforementioned blankets and hanging out with your myriad feelings. Also, if you do end up getting dragged to a house party, you are most likely going to be found in the corner, hanging out with the family pet and trying to talk to it.
Coffee People: You are a fully charged battery, prepared to handle the loud noises and activity of the daily grind. You’re completely comfortable in a boisterous coffee shop filled with the sound of coffee beans grinding/morning people chattering, and you’re even capable of engaging in socializing with a barista if the opportunity for small talk arises. When night falls, you are looking for the cool local chef who was this close to getting a spot on the Food Network and having a tasting in between shots of fair-trade espresso. You’ve got shit to do.

Your Professional Life

Tea People: When people ask you what you’re planning on doing with your life, you generally curl up into a small ball à la Roly Poly and cry softly to yourself. You have way too many books you plan on reading — and Tumblr posts you plan on reblogging — to consider things in terms of “career.” You are not really upwardly mobile, professionally speaking, but that’s okay. You’re just figuring things out. You’ll get to it. It will be fine.
Coffee People: You are all about stabbing your coworker in the back to get one sweet, sweet rung up that corporate ladder. You have not yet encountered a meeting you wouldn’t attend fifteen minutes early to set up coffee and donuts for everyone. As long as you’ve had your morning cup, you’re good to conquer the world. If you don’t get it, however, you’re most likely to tear a coworker’s esophagus out on the way to your cubicle for breathing too much in your general direction.

Your Future

Tea People: Basically becoming some extra from Harry Potter who reads tea leaves and tells every other person that they’re going to die within the week.
Coffee People: Switching to tea because, if you don’t, you’re going to have a heart attack by age 35. All of us succumb to the “tea people” lifestyle, it’s just a matter of time. TC mark

How to Get Rid of Fruit Flys

For ABSOLUTELY no reason there are sooo many fruit flies in my house.  To get rid of them I have found an easy, safe, and non-chemical way to get rid of them.

In a short glass, put a couple ounces of apple cider vinegar, and a bit of dish soap.  Then swirl it around so the dish soap dissolves. Set it  out, and the flies will come to drink up the cider, but their wings will cause bubbles to form.  Then the drown.
And that's how you get rid of fruit flies!

Is this Person a Bad Friend?

As some of you might know, I love Thought Catalog .  Looking at the latest thoughts, I came across this thought:
6 Ways to Figure Out if Someone is a Bad Friend

I have been considering if I wanted to remain friends with some of my friends I had made in high school.  I came across an article at an ideal time in my life.  It makes it a bit more obvious as to if I should remain friend with them.

 1. You are constantly making stupid decisions when you are with your friend.
There are some friendships where you need to make stupid decisions.  Or at least once make a stupid decision together, because it's fun.  It makes a good story.  It's just crazy. You need to make some bad choices.  You need to make a mess.  I like the quote, "the bigger the mess, the more fun was had."  Sometimes life just needs to be messy to be fun.

 2. You are always expected to put your life on hold for your friend.
Whenever my friend wants to do something, it is inexcusable that I have something going on.  This is even when I  am often the one who asks to do things, or offers to make plans or arrange things.  she always talks about how she is too busy to hang out with any of us, or me.  Then I hear about how she always hangs out with her boyfriend.  Which is fine and all.  But don't say you have no time when  you're just not interested in hanging out.  That is a very different thing than being busy.    And if she needs something, she expects you to be there for her.  But a prime example  her not returning the favor is when my dad had cancer.

3. But your friend is never there for you
Ha!  she was never there for me.  My dad had a very rare cancer, only about 150  a year get this type of cancer.  Not to mention the area where it was is just a rare place to get it.  Luckily we live in a location where there are a bunch of doctors who are amazing.  But honestly.  To never be there.  To never ask how he is doing.  To never ask if I was ok.  That just isn't how a friend should act.  My friends (and sorority sisters)  while they were 10 times the distance away. They were able to help me out.  They were there asking if I was ok.  And even though they weren't able to physically be there, they got me an animal from biuld-a-bear.  Which is corny.  But I love it.  They made it for me.  It's the thought that counts. Also, When i  had something big happen to me, that was very negative, I was unable to to talk about it.  And That was what initially made me never trust them.

4. There's an unhealthy competition between you.
She likes to brag about how cheap she is and how much money she saves.  it's annoying and no one cares.  She goes on and on about how  much she doesn't care and how cheap she is. But no one cares.  She just goes on and o n .  And she talks about her life like it's so complicated and  hard.  She CHOSE to be a teacher.  she doesn't like the paycheck.  She isn't a huge fan of some of her kids.  She doesn't like the living situation.  But that is all she can live off of. Because she chose this life.  She always feels the need to say how tough her life is.  How hard she has to work for her life.  And such things. How she has to get up early, and can't do anything.

5. Their advice seems suspect.
her advice is based upon what is best for her.  And what's the cheapest.  That shouldn't be how you decide what your advice should be based upon.  If someone asks me for advice, you should say what would be best.  Not what is best for her.

6. You make excuses for all the shitty things your friend does to you.
I am done making excuses for her. She's a shitty friend to me, and I don't deserve this. I deserve much better.

Well.  It looks like I just talked myself out of friendship.  But was this truly a friendship?

Life

Hey there

I haven't written in a while  But my goal is to write more.    Because it helps me think. And I now that i want to be a better person.

Here's a story for you.

I bought a blue tooth keyboard from nomorerack.com.   It is supposed to be compatible with blue tooth enabled devices.  but when I tried to pair it with my pone, it would not do so.  So that is disappointing.   Because i was planing o using the keyboard with my phone so i could then blog at work.

Looks like this  wont be  an idea that comes to fruition.

I am debating about buying a different blue tooth keyboard so that I ca  But I don't know if I want to spend the money.  I probably will if I find one under twenty dollars.

I am about to start my fourth week at my new job and I am super excited  though this  past week I was retyping these old note cards.  Which aggravate my carpel tunnel.   and that is so annoying   Because I love to type and my job needs me to type.  which is not an excellent combination.

I have taken up reading once again.  I didn't realize how  much I missed it.But I am glad to be reunited with books once again.

last weekend I went to  a half priced bookstore, and I spent thirty dollars on books.  Thirty Dollars.  Mind you the majority of the books I bought were only a dollar.

But this is all for now, I need to sleep.

Goodnight.

When all the pieces fit together...

Finally my life is going good.  Im trying hard in school.  it sucks (as it should).  I got a  job at an engineering company. It is excellent opportunity and it's a great company to be apart of.  Don't get me wrong - I am very happy about it.  I just don't know why I don't feel happier.  I feel kind of empty.

It seems like my life is falling together, finally, and I should be happy. My dad has been having clean scans from his cancer (he had osteosarcoma in his upper jaw).  My room is clean.  Everyone in my family is doing well.  No one is terribly sick.  We have had no major incidents, well since my grandma's funeral.

I just feel that I should be happier.  I should feel something more.

Am I broken?

My life is falling together finally.

What's wrong with me?

I know this is just a stage. Once I begin my job I hope that it changes.  Routine always helps. Plus the sense of accomplishment.  It will be awesome.  and fun.  and good.

Awesome Grey's Anatomy Quotes - Season One

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Grey's Anatomy.  So much so I like to re-watch it.  And I am recording my favorite moments and quotes

The Opening scene with Meredith and Derek.  I love how it's foreshadowing.  and awkward and awesome.

When O'Malley is defined as 007

When Grey and Shepard first make out in the elevator

When "the four" get the brain dead patient to become an organ donor

When Izzy, as Dr. Model, yells at everyone because she put her self through med school by using her body to model.

Meredith:  How do you know what's real, and what's not?
Derek:  You Just do.

The fact they call Karev Evil Spawn.

Derek: Meredith I am so sorry.   Addison. What are you doing here?
Addison: You would know if you bothered to return any one of my phone calls.  [to Meredith] Hi. I'm Addison Shepherd.
Meredith: Shepherd?
Addison: And you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband

When did we become grownups?  And how do we make it stop?

It's my party, and I'll get drunk if I want to.

So you blew me off for a bottle of tequila?  That's not nearly as much fun to wake up to.

About My Mother's Day

Hey There!
So this post about Mother's Day is later than I said it would be...but hey.  Better late then never.  :)

I made her a card with this lovely kit she had gotten for...no good reason. Because My mom is awesome.
And with this loverly kit I made her card!

Front:

Inside:

Back:

I also made her this cake with two circle pans and icing in between.  Then I decorated it.  :)

And I also bought her some roses and put them in a vase.

I put the flowers and the card on her nightstand when she was in the shower.  she really enjoyed it.

And that is what I did for my mother on mother's day.

Some Easy Hair Styles

So I am pretty lazy.  I like my hair to look cute, but I don't like to do something that takes forever to do - I am an engineer for goodness sake.  "Ain't nobody got time for that"  So I am hitting up the internet for some cute, easy hairstyles for my hair that looks similar to this:

via
except I don't look like sex.

The first one I found and tried and liked is this one:

 via

It's a bun, that instead of just tying it into a bun and leaving it as is, you invert it back through your hair to create a different look.  Easy Peasy. :)
This look can also be accomplished with a ponytail:

 via

 via
I like this, and I used to do this before I had bangs.  But this has inspired me to try this with my bangs.  I might try doing this with my hair below my bangs.  Who knows?  It might be cute.

Fishtail Braid!!  how can I forget!!!
via
A little more time consuming, but totally cute and worth it.
this is called the 'low rolled updo'
via
It is cute and relatively easy to do!  under five minutes.  #thingsIlove

here is an 'easy to do' hairstye that will be relatively easy to do... once I master it.
I found this image via google.
HERE is a tutorial of how to do it.
And that is all I found.  :)  If you have any more idea's let me know!

I hope you had a wonderful mother's day.  I'll post tomorrow about what I did.  if you want some idea's of what to do in the future.
