Is this Person a Bad Friend?

As some of you might know, I love Thought Catalog .  Looking at the latest thoughts, I came across this thought: 6 Ways to Figure Out if Someone is a Bad Friend   I have been considering if I wanted to remain friends with some of my friends I had made in high school.  I came across an article at an ideal time in my life.  It makes it a bit more obvious as to if I should remain friend with them.     1. You are constantly making stupid decisions when you are with your friend.   There are some friendships where you need to make stupid decisions.  Or at least once make a stupid decision together, because it's fun.  It makes a good story.  It's just crazy. You need to make some bad choices.  You need to make a mess.  I like the quote, "the bigger the mess, the more fun was had."  Sometimes life just needs to be messy to be fun. 
 2. You are always expected to put your life on hold for your friend. Whenever my friend wants to do something, it is inexcusable that I have something going on.  This is even when I  am often the one who asks to do things, or offers to make plans or arrange things.  she always talks about how she is too busy to hang out with any of us, or me.  Then I hear about how she always hangs out with her boyfriend.  Which is fine and all.  But don't say you have no time when  you're just not interested in hanging out.  That is a very different thing than being busy.    And if she needs something, she expects you to be there for her.  But a prime example  her not returning the favor is when my dad had cancer. 
3. But your friend is never there for you Ha!  she was never there for me.  My dad had a very rare cancer, only about 150  a year get this type of cancer.  Not to mention the area where it was is just a rare place to get it.  Luckily we live in a location where there are a bunch of doctors who are amazing.  But honestly.  To never be there.  To never ask how he is doing.  To never ask if I was ok.  That just isn't how a friend should act.  My friends (and sorority sisters)  while they were 10 times the distance away. They were able to help me out.  They were there asking if I was ok.  And even though they weren't able to physically be there, they got me an animal from biuld-a-bear.  Which is corny.  But I love it.  They made it for me.  It's the thought that counts. Also, When i  had something big happen to me, that was very negative, I was unable to to talk about it.  And That was what initially made me never trust them. 
4. There's an unhealthy competition between you. She likes to brag about how cheap she is and how much money she saves.  it's annoying and no one cares.  She goes on and on about how  much she doesn't care and how cheap she is. But no one cares.  She just goes on and o n .  And she talks about her life like it's so complicated and  hard.  She CHOSE to be a teacher.  she doesn't like the paycheck.  She isn't a huge fan of some of her kids.  She doesn't like the living situation.  But that is all she can live off of. Because she chose this life.  She always feels the need to say how tough her life is.  How hard she has to work for her life.  And such things. How she has to get up early, and can't do anything. 
5. Their advice seems suspect. her advice is based upon what is best for her.  And what's the cheapest.  That shouldn't be how you decide what your advice should be based upon.  If someone asks me for advice, you should say what would be best.  Not what is best for her. 
6. You make excuses for all the shitty things your friend does to you.   I am done making excuses for her. She's a shitty friend to me, and I don't deserve this. I deserve much better.
Well.  It looks like I just talked myself out of friendship.  But was this truly a friendship?

What is Poking all About Anyways?

On facebook you can poke another person.  To which I would like to inquire as to the purpose of when one pokes another person, using facebook.    I know when I poke Mara, it's just no big deal. We're just goofing around.  But when my ex, aka, the Boy pokes me - I just have no clue what is going on in his head.  Before we started to date, this is how he began to flirt.  This past Sunday was his birthday, and he decided that his birthday was the ideal day to poke me.  So naturally I was wondering what should I do?  I wasn't planning on wishing him a happy birthday.  I wasn't ready for that.  But he initiated contact with me.  So I texted him, 'Hey. Hope you're having a good Birthday!'  He never responded.  Naturally that annoyed me. Why don't you respond to me?  You're the one who initiated contact today.  Why do you not text me back???? So I decided to poke him back, and then messaged him, "hey! Hope you're having a good Birthday!"  That's two exclamation marks.  So much more exciting.  haha.  But he eventually said 'thanks' to it.   I decided that was an inadequate response. In hopes of making him feel awkward and try to force him to start a conversation, I said 'No Trouble.'  Sadly that tactic did not work.  he did not talk to me the rest of the evening.  Monday Morning he began poking me.  Naturally I cannot let him win.  So I kept poking him back. Because he cannot win.  But what if this is him flirting with me again?  I cannot date him again.  Well.  I Shouldn't.  I am tired of being alone though.  And he is so nice... and comfy.  And fun.And I miss making out with him. It was fun. BUT, lets be reasonable here.  Religion, well better stated, his lack of religion is a serious issue for me.  And I don't think he is comfortable with me having faith. That isn't a great equation fora goodlong relationship. Silly logic.

Christmas, Round Two

Well, this Christmas was unique.  This was the first Christmas without my Uncle, and also without my Grandma. 

The Surviving Uncle who isn't blood related...was quite the character.  He had gotten a few beers into him.   And well.  His lack of a filter was a lot worse than usual.  Last night an amber alert was put out for a 20 year old mother and her 17 month old son because they were kidnapped by three men wearing hoodies.  All five were Black.  Thankfully the Woman and her son were recovered a few hours later.  When were talking about this incident while preparing the food and a few people were hanging out in the kitchen, he exclaims "oh, you mean that [n-word]."  I mean really.  Who in this day an age uses that word?  I know he was raised with a racist family, but at this point it is his choice to not talk better.  So there was that and his terrible jokes, no one really finds that funny.  My cousins laugh at him when he's telling it because of the ridiculousness.

Christmas went on, eating dinner, cleaning up, my aunt doing dishes.  She continued doing dishes whilst the presents were opened.  Speaking of presents, my Uncle got us a nice bottle of Champagne, worth $150! it is just insane.

After my aunt left with her husband and super awkward son, it was nice hanging out with my cousins, Tom, Kathleen, and John, My Aunt Chris, and My Uncle Dave.  Oh, of course my direct family too.  We had a fun time just joking around.  

Once everyone else left, we chilled as a family and watched, The Santa Clause.  It was fun.  Then we all went our separate ways... Now I am here in my bed with my new TV and DVD player.  

Sadly though, I have found out that my good friend Danielle's mother might have pneumonia, or lung cancer.  The doctors are not sure yet.  :/  So Please keep her in your prayers!  The more the merrier!!

It is Thursday

It's the Thursday after Frankenstorm/the perfect storm/Hurricane Sandy

It's crazy all the destruction that was caused. 

My prayers are with those who were affected with the storm.
 I'm sure you have seen the photo's of the damages. they are breath taking.





Not to make light of this, but life still goes on.

And now more than ever it is good to be thankful for what we have.

So once again,  Thankful Thursday.... here we go!  :)

I am thankful for...

• Living in the midwest.  While the wind and rain did become harsher, it wasn't that too bad at all.  Tree's were toppled over.  Lines down.  It's crazy.  But I am thankful that everyone is doing well.  Hopefully everyone you know is also doing well.
• Having gone to Pittsburgh this past weekend for the AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineerings) Student convention.  I had a blast and now know a few of my classmates a whole lot better.  Which is great.  :)  
• For now knowing how to spell Pittsburgh.  I used to spell it pittsburge.  which is very, very wrong.  Its Pittsburgh.  :D
• For being able to paint my nails.  this is my latest creation I did in preperation for tomorrow!

 

•  Being asked out by a boy!  Who isn't in my classes.  it's nice to feel wanted.  And i'm willing to see where this goes.  Who knows?  It's something I needed.  
• I also had an interview with a company called Lubrizol and while I think the interview went well, I didn't get the internship.  :(  But life goes on.  I was very relaxed in the interview and thought it went well. Next time.... Next time. 
• Friends
• family.  My brother might have lime disease, which is like mono in the fact that you can only tell if you have had it in the blood test.  Not if you currently have it ongoing.  but that might explain his medical mystery.
• Having had so many opportunities.  they have helped me become the person I am today. 

Why Matt Looks like this Otter

Recently I have figured out how to assign pictures to my contacts on  my phone!  

So naturally I want to do that to all my frequently talked to people.  

 

I asked Matt, "What should I set your profile picture as"

 

So he's like what, and i explain how I want to do it in my phone.  To which he suggested something on facebook.  Which isn't very creative I told him. So he then suggested, "Make it an otter.  Or a kangaroo.  Or a mouse sized deer (thats a real thing btw)"

"Idk.  His head is the right shape I think..... eh his cheeks might be a little big. The top of his head is a similar shape.  His mouth is about the right shape.  Hes pretty much a caricature of myself with a buncha fur"

So that is how my best friend looks like an Otter. 

Shit, Sex, Farts, Cops, Cars, Booze

the title for this post is basically what this past weekend was about for me.  :)

Let me explain what some of this means.  :)

Farts - There was a girl, Caroline who is a younger girl in Phi Rho.  She is super nice and friendly.  We were going around and saying different words that we thought were so funny when you hear them.  like penis...though not so much.  but shaft and penetration still are. :)  yay!  lol.  But Caroline thought fart is a funny word.  Which the way she says fart is so funny.  So it was funny to hear her keep  saying fart.  along with when farting actually occurred over the weekend.  That always got a lot of giggles. 

Cars - We rode around a bit.  But they relate to the cops topic too...  but we went to Mara's Bosses' house and hung out a bit there while we took care of the two dogs and three cats.  they were just so cute!!!!  I loved this one cat,  i could just hold him forever.... if he wasn't so shy.  the one dog always tried to bite your feet too.  that was annoying.  and scary at the time.  Not a big fan of animals biting my feet.

you can see (if you tilt your head sideways) one of the dogs, marley, watching tv.  It's tramp (from lady and the tramp) singing on the TV.  :)  it was just so cute I couldn't not take a picture! Just adorable

Cops - On Saturday Melissa (kristen's roommate, and my friend :)  )  lent one of her housemate's her car to go to the drug store to pick up a prescription.  Turns out when she was coming home she was about to turn left, and another car came around a left curve and scraped off the license plate and a bit of the bumper.   

there's the pic we sent to her dad.  It's basically fine.  She ended up going to some auto shop and they had her pay three dollars for a washer and bolts and screwing the license plate back in.  The car ripped the heads off the screw's.  so the people also drilled new holes so that it stayed in place.  :)
On that, we called the cops because initially it was thought that someone hit and run in the drug stores parking lot.  so the Dayton Cops came, but  because we realized it happened on campus, they referred us to the Dayton cops.  But they tend to be dicks.  So after asking about how to handle the situation with the cop, because there was no actual real damage done, they decided not to file a report.    

Cops part two - Yesterday Mara went to her boss's to take care of the dogs again.  And when she got back, she realized that her back plate was stolen. So we called the UD cops, because we saw it had to have happened in the parking lot. There were so many car with their license plate missing, or their back windshield wiper broken off, or their antenna broken off.  So she filed a report with the UD cops so that if someone actually stole it and tried to use it in a crime.  It was fun talking with the UD cops that came to take her report.  Of which we initially called the non emergency Dayton cops, then called the UD cops...neither of which Mara had in her phone.  So i gave it to her and waited with her and such.  She just has to move her front plate to the back so she has a lower probability of being pulled over. 

shit-well, not only did we talk shit, we talked about shit.  haha.... fun times. :)  

well,  I'll post about booze and sex another time.  maybe  ;)  we shall see what happens!!!!

Hump Day!!

Hurray!  I made it halfway thru the first week!!!

It's going quite nicely I should say.  I am making friends,  kinda.  I think I am.  i hope so.   :)  

One of the girls was saying people have already decided on their groups for a project that we won't have until the end of the semester.  Which I think is a little silly.  But what do I know?  So Tiesha suggested maybe seeing if Danielle (a girl i have all my classes with)  was available.   this is just so early.... But I can see why.

but thats just kinda stressful.  Whatever.

But the majority of the kids in my Thermo class are all in my transport class.  Which is kind of cool.  :)

Then Danielle is also in my physics class.  So yay!  I know someone!

Thankful Thursday!

It's Thankful Thursday once again!  :)

 I got the idea from Natalie over at A Moment of Wonderful.  It is a good idea to remind yourself what is good.

• Netflix - why are there so many good shows to watch
• Libraries - you get to see all these movies for FREE!!!!  my favorite price!  :D  And I get to see all these films for free! 
• Dishwashers - I HATE HATE HATE doing dishes by hands.  Thank goodness that we have a dishwasher to do the actual washing.
• Friends - I will always be so grateful for them.  I don't know where I would be without them.  They are so amazing. I have no clue how they put up with me.  
• Cody - My computer had a bit of a trouble,  and he was there and answered all my questions and put up with my panicking.  He is a lifesaver.
• For the clever people who invented these awesome window stickies that cover your whole window pane,  and make it look like frosted glass (or whatever pattern you pick out). I have put it on the window next to my bed,  so I do not ruin the blind with my pillow collection, or my tendency to snuggle up against a wall when I sleep. :)

Thankful Thursday

 So I like Reading other people's Thankful Thursdays, and I think its really awesome.  And it is always good to remember what you are thankful for.

1. For my friends.  I don't know if I could ever put into words how thankful I am for them.  I don't understand why they put up with me.  They are truly great people
2. Netflix.  Well,  it's more of a love hate relationship.  I love being able to watch tv whenever I wish.  All the documentaries are so cool to watch. 
3. Tea. Who ever had that crazy idea to put leaves into hot water,  Thank you.  I love drinking tea.  My favorite brand is Lipton.  Recently I have been boiling a pot of water with three bags of decaffeinated tea, and some sugar thrown in.  It is sooo yummy!
4. For being able to wear heels again.  I have missed them so much!  And I have too many cute ones not to wear them! :)
5. For my sorority.  Phi Sigma Rho.  I love all my sisters wholeheartedly.  Without them, I don't know where I would be.  
6. Cars.  It is so nice to be able to travel  quickly.  Imagine if we had to walk every!  The world would be a much smaller place.
7. For you who read this blog!  Thank you for honoring me with your time!

The Picnic Game

About a month ago I went down to Kings Island. And when you go to an amusment park, there are a lot of lines you have to wait in.  And I hate just waiting there silently.  Which ends up in games being played!

Hannah Introduced me,   well, reintroduced me to the picnic game.  Where you go around and you say I'm going to bring something begining with each letter of the alphabet. The first person says an item with A, the next repeats a, and says b.  Then the third says a, b, then c. So on and so forth.  :)

So we played a game.  And I thought I would share what we are bringing on our Picnic because it is so rediculous.

Celebrating the America's Independence

 At the beginning of this month, 'Murca celebrated its Independence Day!  :)  aka the Fourth of July.

 My celebration began even before the month did! haha...

The 30th of June, we had our family party.  Which was very well attended, over 100 people.
There were some fun times to be had, like volleyball.  And some times that were fun to make fun of.  Like my 40+ year old cousin  drinking so much and then vomming.  Which was mildly hilarious, I thought.  But life goes on.  :)

Sunday was a pretty chill day,  Just  hung out and  cleaned up  Then Later in the day, Cassidy and I ended up going to a shopping center that was having a celebration for the Fourth of July where the Cleveland Pops were playing!

While trying to figure out where to sit, we saw a line of people going into this fenced off area with a bunch of chairs inside of it.  we thought it was first come first serve.  After having waited a bit, we finally got to the front of the line... where they asked for our bracelets. Which we didn't have one.   womp.  But they but us off to the side, because there would be plenty of chairs left over after all the bracelet people got in.  Once the front half was full, we were led around and entered to the seating area behind the stage, where we got an awesome behind the stage look at the orchestra.

haha...  But it was cool watching everyone play in the percussion section.  :)

oh!  the reason they were passing out bracelets is because they had a goal along with everyone enjoying the Pop's........  they wanted to break the world record of most people wearing sunglasses at night!   So we got a pair of sunglasses.

During all these songs you can sing along with ( you know those different partiotic ones)  And wore them while we sang.  For 10 minutes.  Ending with God Bless America.  So we wore them the whole time

But During the time they played, they recognized the different people who have served, or are serving, in what I thought was a clever manner.   They had a melody where they played each of the branches song, (Navy - Anchors Aweigh; Air Force - Army Air Corps; Marine - The Marines' Hymn; Coast Guard - Semper Paratus;  Army - The Army Goes Rolling Along) and had the people of each branch stand as their song was played.  Ironically, the guy next to me was in the Air Force, and he had this awesome shirt on.  It said all over the back, Who is John Galt?

I was so stoked.  It was so amazing.

For those of you don't know, its a quote from one of my favorite books, Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.

 But yes, the Orchestra was so amazing to listen to.  I loved listening to them.

Afterwards, when they were shooting off fireworks, it was amazing.  They were literally being shot over our heads.  So all the cardboard packaging rained down upon us, and Cassidy caught a Piece!

It was so amazing!  And they had music playing along with the fireworks, so that just made it so much more fun to sing along with. 



On The actual fourth of July, I had made cupcakes out of funfetti mix and frosted them.  We brought the two boxes of cupcakes into the hospital and shared them between the 3rd and 4th floor nurses.  They really enjoyed them.  We hung out with my dad there for a long while, then left at like 730 and went home.  My mom stayed and watched fireworks with  my dad and some nurses from an empty hospital room on the other side of the floor.  She had fun.  My brother, Jack, didn't want to go see them in our hometown.  I ended up going and finding Emma who was working a concession booth in the local park where the Fireworks were being held. Employees are not allowed to be in the building while the fireworks were being set off. So it worked out I had brought my blanket with me.  Emma and her co-worker ended up sitting with me and my blanket, finally relaxing after having to work all night with all those firework-watching people.

The fireworks were set off nicely,  it was fun to watch.  Then I ended up going home afterwards.

Overall it was fun times.

Ghost Busters!

Last Thursday Night, in a local shopping center they played Ghost Busters on a big, blow up screen.

So One day Cassidy And I went to Target and I got these super duper awesome erasers.

Day 28 - Something that you miss

The Biggest thing I miss is living with and being able to see my friends all the time  Its very different not being able to always see them.  And its not like its just one friend moved away, its all of them.  (well, not you my high school friends, but I would see you in the summer otherwise still.  And you would be at school too)  Its just so very different.  So I miss it.

Orchid

So my mother got an orchid as a thank you from Music boosters for being president for two years. 

I've been thinking about getting an orchid, for myself.  They are not that hard to take care of. 

Well, they are not that hard once you know how to.  :)  Which I have looked into because I want one.  

So basically I am super jealous of her.  Cuz I want it.  So badly.

Additionally, I re-fell in love with twitter.  Cassidy, Candice, Emma, Mara, and Matt all have one. 

..butttt Mara doesn't use hers. She's a silly goose.

Day 18 - Your beliefs

So I was debating about changing what I would write abut this day into something easier.  Because, well,  who doesn't like it when something is easy? But I looked up belief on dictionary.com, and this is the definition:

Belief (noun) - 1. something believed; an opinion or conviction

2. confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof

3. confidence; faith; trust

4. a religious tenet or tenets; religious creed or faith

In trying to figure out how to write this, i think a list would be the easiest way to do it.  I may add to this over time.  It might not be super deep, but hey.  I'm struggling to keep afloat in the sea of life, and this is what I got.

I believe...

• In Magic
• In Love
• Friendship isn't about keeping track of who does what for each other, its just so that you're there for your friends
•  True friends are the ones who matter the most
• Everyone needs help sometimes, and God will make sure you learn how to accept help
• In God
• In Fairy Tales
• Everything happens for a reason.  no matter how horrible it may be, there's a reason.  You just don't know why yet.
• Everything has some sort of beauty to it.
• In Mythological creatures
• That evolution and the seven days are one in the same theory,  people are just too pigheaded to realize it.
• That everyone judges everyone.  But its you do with that judgement that matters. For example, I like to judge.  But I will still talk to you, even if I am usually right about 95% of the time.  Because who knows what will really happen.
• In being loyal and honest to those who matter
•  In making he best of things
• In treating others the way you want to be treated
• That those long conversations that last all night are some of the best things.  Where you are completely honest with the other person and you really get to know them.
• There's always room for ice cream... Especially coffee. :)
• In sarcasm. It is truly a marvelous thing
• It doesn't matter what religion, faith, whatever you are as long as you believe in something larger than you that you have to report to.
• All problems are solvable, sometimes we just don't want to face the answers

Day 17 - Your highs and lows of this past year.

Well, the low would probs be with my dad's stuff.  

The high's i guess would be when I got to hang out with my friends.

Well, that was short.

Day 9 - How you hope your future will be like.

I hope my future will be happy.  I hope I have my friends still, and my family will be healthy and happy.

Day 8 - A moment you felt the most satisfied with your life.

The moment I feel most satisfied with my life.

Wow. Complete opposite of how my day is.  ( i am completely unsatisfied.)

But The time i was most satisfied with my life that is coming to mind is the beginning of sophomore year at Dayton. 

I was in charge of a bunch of things, which made me feel like i was in charge of my life.  I understood what was going on in school, and had a lot of friends i could rely on.  Nothing was terribly wrong with my family, and we were coexisting pretty well.  I hadn't developed my negativity towards Amanda, so my living conditions were not terrible, but not awesome.   I was not super in like With the guy I like, so I didn't really have the huge boy distraction of him, plus I had no classes with him either.  Tadj was still friends with me and talked with me (now he doesn't really at all.) (I didn't even get to hear from him that he got a girlfriend.  I found out via facebook.  This is coming from the guy who liked to claim he was my best friend.  which he isn't.)

But I knew what was going on, had friends i got to hang out with, and no major problems going on at the time.

So thats when i was most satisfied with my life.
